Meet the new Artistic Director

Dan Stone
Born in southern Oregon, I developed an early interest in music
through various choirs, piano and ultimately his passion as a trumpet player. After my family moved to Arizona when I was a teenager, I focused on this all the more, playing in the pit orchestra for various musicals, performing in high school all-state ensembles, attending International Trumpet Guild conferences and ultimately achieving a Bachelors of Music Education from Northern Arizona University. After graduation, I directed a high school band program in Arizona before leaving education, but my passion for music has never gone away!

Outside of music, I enjoy reading, hiking, football (go 49ers!!!), gaming and traveling. I hope to travel internationally at least once a year for the rest of my life so I can experience the world's cultures, peoples, foods and more. There's so much beauty to be found in this world by breaking out of your own routines and I can't wait to see what the world has to offer. Speaking of beauty, I'm currently engaged to be married to my future wife Colleen in a few months and I couldn't be more excited!

Meet our Associate Director

Being Born in Salt lake City, Utah, I was able to gain a love for music at an early age. The first two musicians that inspired my love and desire to learn music were my mother and grandmother. I taught myself how to read music and some basic piano skills. I've been performing in various choirs and musicals since I was young. I have received standing ovations for my betrayal of Fredrick from the Pirates of Penzance and the Duke of Mantua from Rigoletto. I attended Utah Valley University where I received a B.S. in Music and was a student conductor of choirs under the direction of the head of choral studies.   I returned to UVU and studied Education. Since graduating I have taught and directed orchestras, bands, and several choirs.  Before joining One Voice in aChord I was the Artistic Director of One Voice Community Choir and have been a clinician for several choirs outside of Utah. I had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall were I worked and performed with John Rutter.  I was responsible for the choir in the first Love Loud benefit concert where I was able to perform with Imagine Dragons and Neon Trees.

Outside of music my interests include reading, cooking, dinosaurs, gaming, comic books (those that know me best know of my love of Jean Grey of the X-men and Wonder Woman). I also collect toys and enjoy hiking.  Most of my students tell me I'm just a big kid! I also often volunteer for LGBTQIA+ causes. In my early 20's I developed Ankylosing Spondylitis where the joints of my body fuse together.  I joined a group that includes Dan Reynolds, Ed Sullivan, Mick Mars, and millions more.  I am currently employed by the Salt Lake City School District.  I look forward to working with Dan and the members in the choir.

We promote choral excellence and music education across all communities, beliefs and identities through the power of singing to create an atmosphere of inclusivity, acceptance and community united by music.
